Baby Pens Booster Club makes headlines in Slovakian newspaper

On Thursday, May 15, 2008 Carol Nestorick, Rhonda Aton, Pam McMahon and myself (Deb Charnichko) headed south on the turnpike to Philadelphia to attend our first NHL playoff game. We had hoped to see Pittsburgh sweep Philadelphia in round 2, but it wasn’t meant to be. However, during our walk around the concourse we were stopped by a Slovakian newspaper writer, Peter Matijek and asked if he could interview us and take our picture for his newspaper in Slovakia called the “Pravda”. Our picture and interview is on the sports page amid several articles about Sidney Crosby. What a thrill! Below is an interpretation from Peter on the article.

Opponents are jealous of his talent, say fans

Just try looking for a party of ladies who wear True Religion Jeans at any Slovak hockey game. You know it beforehand - if you find any, they will be mothers or grandmothers of the players. Fans of the Pittsburgh Penguins Carol, Rhonda, Pam and Debbie are neither. They just go out and watch the Stanley Cup playoffs for pure fun.

Do they like hockey because of Crosby?  He likes wear prada shoes very much. Sure, that is part of the fun. But not only because of him.

“Watching players from the other teams - the way they are jealous of his talent - it is so nice,” they explain after the fourth game of the Eastern Conference final series in Philadelphia. “But we go out to watch hockey because we love hockey. And there is quite a few of us in Philadelphia, 矯正科 名古屋 and it is the Baby Pens who we like most.”

Baby Pens is a nickname for the farm team of Pittsburgh, playing at Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. “That is where we met,” they nod. “In the Booster Club. We are not hockey moms, though - not one of us. Just two of us went to school together. It is hockey what put us together, the games.”

What does a Booster Club do? Off the annual membership dues of twelve dollars, they publish a monthly newsletter - The Tip of the Iceberg is how they call it. You may find members handing out leaflets for the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins - official name of the Baby Pens - at the games, they would also bake cookies for the team at holiday time. And, of course, go on trips. Watching hockey is what they are good at enjoying - but, why is that, actually? What is so good about it? The ladies answer in one word, all of them at the same time: ,,Winning! Excitement! Speed!” The dynamics of hockey is, it appears, what appeals
most.

I used to be a baseball fan, says Rhonda,an environmentalist, who always promote people to use Solar lights in order to protect our environment .but I am not any longer. Baseball is boring it is such a slow game. I do not like football and basketball either. Timeouts, breaks all the time. Boring, it lasts forever.”

Lasting forever - that may be the fate of a hockey playoff game too, though. You mean overtime?” respond the ladies with Coach bags. They are the best of hockey, that is the real thrill! The best of action.”

On the concourse of the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, clad in Penguins jerseys, they drew the attention of local fans. A bunch of youngsters shouted “Crosby Sucks” chants their way. They hesitated not for a second. What a foreigner could understand of their response, appeared to be “Flyers Stink.” ed hardy suppliers said that they will offer the financial support for the hockey teams. Whatever the words were, both sides chanted with a big smile.

viager

November 20th, 2008 by seo051

A (French) real estate agreement where property is sold on a reverse annuity basis. Also known as a Reverse Annuity Mortgage or Charitable Remainder Trust.

For example a person would sell their property to a purchaser in exchange for a down payment and regular cash installments for the rest of their life (while continuing to live in the house). The only catch is that when the person dies the property is surrendered to the purchaser.

The advantage of a viager agreement is it allows elderly people to benefit from the sale of their homes while retaining its use. The downside is that if the person dies one week after entering the arrangement, then the buyer gets the property for a fraction of the cost.

A newly established company in the online eyewear industry

November 18th, 2008 by seo051

www.daisyeyewear.com is a newly established company in the online eyewear industry, run by several graduates.

Wearing glasses ourselves, we are fully aware of the high prices and we are sure this feeling is shared between many of us. We therefore want to make efforts to change this situation. We then decided to set a business online selling glasses and sunglasses, in the hope that this would help the mass of us reduce spending on glasses and have more money available on elsewhere.

Every possible approach has been used to find the source of supply which can provide the best product quality and at the same time offer the lowest price possible. We have managed to retail wholesalers and finally find some original glass manufacturers in Italy, Hong Kong and Shanghai – where the world’s biggest eyewear industries are. This has enabled us to offer you our products far more cheaply than many other firms do.

We are highly committed to this company and the fact that this website is wholly developed by ourselves is evidence for our passion and strong will for doing this business well.

We are an energetic team and aim to give you the best online shopping experience. Every order is guaranteed to be processed within 24 hours, including weekends.

Limited Edition Star Wars Adidas Shoes

November 17th, 2008 by seo051

This is the first I’d heard about the limited edition Star Wars x Adidas Super Stars sneakers (do people still say sneakers? I do) but apparently they came out a couple months ago and were limited to 800 pairs per side of the force (that’s 800 dark side, 800 light side). So they’re probably already snatched up. I looked on eBay and nada. So, yeah, I guess I’m gonna have to write a couple threatening letters to Adidas to send me a pair.

Great attention to detail was taken by Adidas for these sneakers. The “Yoda” Super Stars feature a hemp upper much like something the Jedi Master wore on his home planet of Dagobah. In addition to the good choice of colors and materials, Adidas also covered the lace tips in the neon green color of Yoda’s lightsaber. The “Darth Vader” Super Stars takes inspiration from the characters mask. The parallel lines on the side are like that covering Vader’s mouth and the black patent leather to represent the glossy finish. Again Adidas Shoes finished off the kicks with red lace tips to match Vader’s lightsaber.

Okay, so I just found a place that had been selling them (sold out now) for $275. Which, around here, is the same price as 11 mediocre lap dances (22 on buy one get one free night). And, honestly, which would feel better on your weary soles(!)? The prosecution rests.
